Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, popularly referred to in the media as Ashanti was born October 13 1981 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer songwriter. Ashanti's talent was first discovered as a teen. The singer signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. She appeared in Fat Joe's What's Luv? song that same year. The song "What's the Love?" by Fat Joe and Ja Rule's song "Always on Time were both huge hits. It was the first time for a female artist to have the highest two positions within the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at first place and Luv? at number two. Luv? The song What's Luv! We will be celebrating the birthday of her favorite actress. Ashanti Douglas also known as Ashanti as she's commonly known was born at Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas her mother is an instructor in dance and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, her father is a singer from the past. She is Kenashia's eldest brother. Douglas was given the name Ashanti to honor the Ashanti Empire where women enjoyed power and influence. Douglas hoped Ashanti would emulate this. James the Ashanti's great-grandfather has been a prominent civil rights advocate along with Martin Luther King Jr. back in 1960s. The Ashanti's mother discovered her talent after hearing her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti appeared as a child extra in Spike Lee's Malcolm X in 1992 as well as Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Ashanti was also featured in a couple of music videos, including K.R.S. - Act One's "MC's like They don't know" as well as 8-Off Ghetto girl. The career of Ashanti as a musician was hampered because she was unable to find commercial success following her being approached by record labels such as Bad Boy and Jive. The debut album of Ashanti was released by Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. on the label in 2002. The Declaration the fourth studio album, was released on June 3 2008. Hey Baby, After the Club (released both on the radio and on digital formats) came out October 16 in 2008. The singer was on the Christmas in the City film and played Latasha as Latasha in Army Wives. Aitch used the Rock wit U sample in Baby on the 10th day of March 2022.
