Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano in her basement, and becoming enthralled by the sounds it created. The parents of her May-Britt family along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a profession or a pastime, but for growth. Thus, she began her own compositions. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as a love for Bjork's style. Her mother had informed her that her music can not only aid in her efforts to achieve fame however, they could also help others understand their value to the world and appreciate how they can benefit from them, she decided to begin performing publicly. Piano was her first instrument when she was six, and she started making music at the age of nine. Family members didn't even be aware of this until she was 14. The dream was never to turn into Aurora. As she says, she likes to write songs. For her, the songs she creates are how she feels about any thing.
